Sida - Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency
Sida has provided the bulk of funding support for LVRLAC’s programmes and activities since 2001 through a cooperation agreement with the Union of Baltic Cities (UBC). Through this support, LVRLAC has strengthened its institutional structures, empowered its membership with relevant skills, undertaken pilot projects and initiated long-term City-City links.

UBC - Union of Baltic Cities
UBC, having entered into a cooperation agreement with LVRLAC in 2001, has provided a formidable platform where the experiences and expertise in the Network of Cities in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) has been infused into the Lake Victoria Region in promoting the LVRLAC objectives. LVRLAC envisages further ties with the UBC to actualize the Action Plan 2006-2008

EAC - East African Community
The Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC), an organ of the EAC implementing the Lake Victoria Regional Vision and Strategy, is strategic organ through which LVRLAC shall continue to pursue strengthened partnerships for a harmonized approach to realizing the broader regional vision.

UN-HABITAT
UNHABITAT and LVRLAC partnership is derived upon the foundation of promoting the development of a regional framework for laying out City Development Strategies (CDS) that uphold popular, private and public participation in decision making. Six Cities have implemented this programme in the LVR, namely Kampala, Entebbe (Uganda), Kisumu, HomaBay (Kenya), Musoma, Bukoba (Tanzania). Awareness measures are also undertaken through the annual Lake Victoria Clean-Up Week campaign that involves the CDS cities and takes place every July.

LVEMP - Lake Victoria Environment Management Project
LVRLAC continues to work with the respective LVEMP components in promoting the role and participation of Local Authorities in the Lake Victoria Region in the planned activities as way of contributing to the regional efforts of conserving and protecting the Lake and its resources

LVFO - Lake Victoria Fisheries Organisation
Fishing communities reside in the LVR Local Authorities, and through close collaboration with LVFO, LVRLAC provides a platform for dissemination of relevant research findings and strengthening of awareness campaigns.

ECOVIC - The East African Communities Organisation for Management of Lake Victoria Resources
LVRLAC works in close collaboration with ECOVIC in mobilizing Lake Shore communities towards positive and collective action that promotes a better environment and livelihood status. One such example is the Lake Victoria annual Clean-Up week campaign observed every July.

ALGAK - Association of Local Government Authorities in Kenya
LVRLAC recognizes the important role played by the National Associations of Local Authorities in the respective countries and actively collaborates with them to advocate and lobby for the interest of the Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities.

EABC - East African Business Council
LVRLAC, in its Action Plan (2006/08), recognizes the importance attached to the Lake Victoria Region as an economic growth zone by the EAC and through collaborative efforts with the EABC, strives to promote a conducive business climate amongst its member LAs that would attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) as well as encourage growth in micro-enterprise.

ICLEI - International Committee on Local Environment Initiatives
Numerous ‘good practice’ initiatives exist amongst the respective member Local Authorities and LVRLAC in cooperation with ICLEI has provided an important platform for sharing on such experiences and leveraging resources for replication of such ‘good practices’.

Inter-University Council for East Africa
LVRLAC collaborates with the IUCEA to bridge the gap between research and development application amongst its member Local Authorities. Important findings are transmitted through various LVRLAC channels to benefit the Local Authorities.
